It’s a crackin’ ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The two Great British icons are the centrepieces of the new Thrill-O-Matic dark ride that has replaced the Gold Mine, which closed at the end of last season. The £5.25m investment opened at Easter this year and features the best loved characters from the dynamic duo’s adventures.
Creators, Aardman Studios, have worked with designer Nick Farmer to develop the ride, and Paragon Creative has been responsible for all the setworks and props. KD Theming Technicians of Huddersfield have undertaken the film animation, lighting, sound and special effects. The ride duration is almost four minutes and takes in full sized reconstructed sets from the Wallace and Gromit films, such as A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave and A Matter of Loaf and Death.
Our prop-making and scenic teams have been flat out making the many hundreds of props in our workshops and then installing the 25 full sets of scenery and props on-site.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach Managing Director, Amanda Thompson OBE said: “We are delighted to welcome Wallace and Gromit to Pleasure Beach. Thrill-O-Matic represents a significant investment in the park and the characters are national treasures. To have them here re-affirms our commitment to attracting families back to the resort for what we hope will be A Grand Day Out!“
